Acton Conservation Seeks Volunteers to Clear Ice House Pond of Water Chestnuts
DATELINE — ACTON — Acton Conservation is calling for volunteers to help clear invasive water chestnuts from Ice House Pond during a community removal day set for Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.
TOWN HALL Acton Conservation announced this week that it is organizing a volunteer work day at Ice House Pond to pull invasive water chestnuts, an aquatic plant that can choke waterways and crowd out native species if left unchecked. The removal day runs from 9 a.m. to noon on August 15, and the town is asking residents interested in helping to sign up in advance.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Acton Public Library's summer calendar stays busy this week. On Tuesday, August 4, the library hosted a beginner-friendly Introduction to Yoga session in the Grady and Thomas rooms, sponsored by the Friends of Acton Public Library, alongside Storytime and a visit from Izzy, a two-year-old certified reading dog whose young visitors sign up for 10-minute one-on-one reading sessions with her.
