Acton Volunteers to Hand-Pull Water Chestnuts at Ice House Pond
ACTON — Acton Conservation volunteers head to Ice House Pond Saturday morning for a hands-on push to pull invasive water chestnuts before the plant can choke off the water body, one of the few fresh items on an otherwise quiet 24 hours in town.
TOWN HALL
Acton Conservation is hosting a community water chestnut removal day at Ice House Pond on August 15 from 9 a.m. to noon, asking residents to pitch in and hand-pull the invasive plant, which can quickly blanket a pond's surface and choke off native growth if left unchecked. Organizers billed it as a hands-on way for residents to protect one of the town's conservation areas.
Town Hall also posted the August 2026 edition of the Municipal Monthly newsletter this week, the town's regular roundup of department updates available for download on the town website.
