Acton Releases August Municipal Monthly as Three Boards Meet Tuesday

ACTON — Town Hall posted its August 2026 Municipal Monthly newsletter for residents to download as three town boards prepare to convene Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Acton Public Library rolled out a week of programming that includes a visit from a certified reading dog.

The town's August Municipal Monthly edition is now available to download from the town website, offering residents a rundown of department updates and municipal news for the month.

Three boards are on next week's calendar: the Commission on Disabilities, the Land Stewardship Committee and the Planning Board all meet Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to the town's online calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Izzy, a certified reading dog, returns to Acton Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. for "Imaginary Tails," a program letting children sign up for 10-minute reading sessions with the 2-year-old golden retriever. Izzy's owners, Liz and Jody Moss, will sit in as she listens to library kids read.

The library also debuts Acton Compassion-Knits on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., a new staff-led group knitting and crocheting items for donation to charity; yarn and patterns are provided, or participants can bring their own projects. Meet-up Mondays, the library's weekly game and social gathering, returns Monday, Aug. 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. with board games, puzzles and light refreshments.

Acton Public Library hosts Storytime Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Grady and Thomas rooms. The library's weekly Peace Crane Folding session runs Thursday, Aug. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m., self-directed and open to all skill levels. Teens can drop in for the library's Open Game Day the same day, Thursday, Aug. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
