The Acton Public Library will launch a new Sensory Storytime program Monday, designed for young children who benefit from a modified, quieter version of the traditional storytime experience, while town committees continue a busy week of summer meetings and events.

The town also continues to promote its July 2026 Municipal Monthly newsletter and preparations for the Acton Harvest Festival, planned for Sunday, September 20 at noon, alongside ongoing volunteer recruitment for the August 15 water chestnut removal effort at Ice House Pond.

COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Acton Public Library will debut Sensory Storytime on Monday, August 10, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. in the Grady and Thomas rooms. The new program is aimed at children ages 3 to 11 who may benefit from a modified experience, including those on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing needs, and will feature softer lighting, reduced noise, and hands-on sensory stations for play afterward. Registration is limited to six children; the session will be led by Shanon Stevens, an inclusive library programming consultant with more than 20 years of experience in public and school library leadership.
This week also brings a full slate of regular library programming: the Wednesday Book Discussion Group meets August 5 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss "North Woods" by Daniel Mason, Acton Compassion-Knits meets the same afternoon, and the library's ongoing Peace Crane Folding sessions continue Thursdays at 1 p.m. Teen programming includes a Dungeons and Dragons summer club on Wednesday and a Drop-In Games Day and Teen Crafts session Thursday, while younger children can enjoy Sing & Stomp on Friday morning and weekly Grab & Go craft kits from the Children's Room.
