Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Acton's Select Board previewed a projected $2.6 million fiscal 2028 budget gap and approved a cannabis host community agreement. Town Manager John told the board the figure "compounds to 4.6 and 6.9 and 9.0 year on year out" but won't actually materialize because state law requires a balanced budget. Members unanimously approved a host community agreement with Mass Wellspring LLC for 18 Powder Mill Road and renamed the town's sewer assessment document the "Acton Sewer Privilege Fee Schedule." A hearing on Bodanza Electric Company's proposed trade shop drew sharp debate after member Dean Charter said "if you've got no solution, then I will certainly vote against the approval of this site plan," citing groundwater risk from uncovered mulch storage; it was continued to October 5.
The board also continued a Northern Bank and Trust branch-rebuild hearing to September 28 and approved a Jersey Mike's Subs common victualer license for 252 Main Street.
