ACTON — The Acton Select Board approved a site plan permit for a mixed-use building at 13 School Street and voted to move all town committees onto official email accounts. Engineer Paul Kirshner, representing applicant Alexander Moda, told the board the revised plan provides 11 parking spaces behind the building for the commercial units, up from six in the original plan, which drew planning staff pushback, plus 10 covered spaces beneath the building for residents. The 16,049-square-foot building will house five commercial units and seven residential units, with a final decision deadline of October 4.
Separately, Director of Innovation and Technology Carl Volker won unanimous board approval to end personal-email forwarding for roughly 168 committee accounts, calling the current system "inconsistent" and "unreliable." The board also heard, without voting, an $3 million to $4.9 million Stowe Street safety study after resident Rebecca Cain described a near-miss crash that killed her dog: "A car came speeding down Stowe Street and came within an inch of hitting me and the child."
