Select Board · Meeting of April 6, 2026

ACTON — The Acton Select Board voted unanimously to exercise the town's right of first refusal on 5.8 acres at 46 Taylor Road, teeing up a roughly $1.4 million land purchase for Town Meeting. Select Board member David D. Martin pushed unsuccessfully for part of the site to be set aside for active recreation, saying he was "probably the only person on the board" who wanted that.

Nine residents urged full preservation of the land, which adjoins the Acton Arboretum. The board also voted 4-1 to recommend Town Meeting take no action on an MBTA overlay affordability article, after developer Ian Shankman warned it "will result in no housing at all" on his Central Street site. Separately, the board recommended a tax increment financing agreement for Insulet's planned investment at 35 Nagog Park Drive, with member Jim abstaining, and heard that the town's new DPW facility is now estimated at under $23 million, down from roughly $30 million.
