School Committee · Meeting of February 26, 2026

ACTON — The Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee previewed three draft elementary boundary scenarios Thursday, drawn from more than 1,200 survey responses, that would move between 64 percent and 68 percent of students to new buildings under the district's "AB Forward" reorganization. Consultant Nick Stellatano, managing director of Dillinger Research and Applied Data, said Blanchard Memorial School would run at 86 percent capacity in the first scenario while the Acton campuses hit 96 to 99 percent. Public speakers, including Select Board liaison David Martin and teachers union president Mike Balulescu, urged residents not to vote down the school budget to delay the plan, warning it "would likely result in lower funding for the district." Superintendent Peter announced he is leaving in July 2027 to lead a school in Abu Dhabi.

Members debated, but did not vote on, whether to rename the schools being closed.
