School Committee · Meeting of March 5, 2026

ACTON — The Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee heard a consultant recommend a new elementary redistricting scenario amid parent pushback over lost walkability. Demographic consultant Nick Stellatana said "Scenario 5" would push Blanchard Memorial School's utilization to 96 percent but require 68 percent of district students, including Conant, to switch buildings. Parent Jared Rice said losing his neighborhood's walk to school "would be devastating," while Matt Gilman said his kids would face a 40-minute bus ride instead of a 10-minute walk.

The committee also held a hearing on its $122,593,238 fiscal 2027 budget, with Acton's assessment rising $2,995,247 and Boxborough's rising $935,899; a budget vote is set for March 19. Members unanimously named Andrew and Liz Falks co-chairs of a new transition task force.
