ACTON — The Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee approved four solar power-purchase agreements and adopted a $122,593,238 fiscal 2027 budget, while narrowing elementary redistricting options to two finalist zones. Solar consultant Kate projected $964,000 to $3,629,000 in district savings from rooftop and parking-canopy arrays replacing an earlier battery-storage plan at Boardwalk. The budget sets an operating assessment of $78,091,284 for Acton and $16,724,748 for Boxborough.
Seven residents spoke against proposed boundary changes sending their neighborhoods to Blanchard Memorial School, with resident Caitlin Durantz calling her Minuteman Ridge neighborhood "the definition of a neighborhood school." Debate grew tense when member Andrew demanded transportation data from consultant Nick, telling him, "You've got the data. Plug it in." The committee also postponed a vote on raising athletic fees from $350 to $365 per sport after it was left off the agenda.
