ACTON — The Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee adopted Scenario 7 as its new elementary boundary map, reshaping where roughly half of the district's 2,400 elementary students attend school starting July 1, 2026. The vote passed with only member Andrew opposed. A separate, weighted 8.5-to-7 roll call approved a transition policy grandfathering some Blanchard-area students while letting Superintendent Peter offer additional voluntary swaps to ease oversized classes.
Consultant Nick Stolotano of Dillinger Research and Applied Data called the process one with "no perfect solution." Retired teacher Martha Bethel told the board the plan had "decimated" school communities. The committee also ratified three-year ABOSA and AFSCME union contracts with raises of 2.25%, 2% and up to 2.5%, and heard the reorganization is avoiding nearly $1.9 million in personnel costs this year.
