Select Board · Meeting of May 18, 2026

ACTON — The Acton Select Board voted unanimously to continue a hearing on a proposed Primrose child care center to June 1. The board directed planning staff to require a sidewalk west of the facility's driveway at 457 Massachusetts Avenue, pursue a new crosswalk with MassDOT, waive a parking proof plan and add landscaping. Attorney Jonathan Silverstein said the 14,134-square-foot, two-story building would cost close to $8 million, with the property under contract for $1,125,000.

Neighbor David Winders said the site would serve 77 children and 40 staff, with no clear plan for the resulting traffic. Select Board member Dean A. Charter doubted families would walk children to the site, while members David D.

Martin and Pam Nourse argued heavy foot traffic near three schools justified a new sidewalk. The board separately voted unanimously to read the full Declaration of Independence, with added historical context, at the town's July 2 Independence Day event.
