ACTON — The Acton Finance Committee elected new leadership and approved its annual budget stance while launching plans for a deficit subcommittee. Members voted 7-0 to adopt the committee's "point of view" statement, then elected Roland Borden as chair, Greg Jarbo as vice chair and Allison Jones as clerk for the coming year. A member identified as Fred presented a framework for a new subcommittee to study a projected cumulative deficit of $29 million through fiscal 2031, saying "the fact that we're not talking about it... is a bit concerning." A school committee liaison, Lisa, reported an unanticipated $550,000 investment income surplus and a transportation reimbursement rate of 92 percent against an 82.5 percent budgeted figure.
The deficit subcommittee still needs members and a formal charge.
