Acton's Finance Committee recommended a $1.9 million Community Preservation Committee funding package and backed the town's $1.4 million purchase of 5.8 acres off Taylor Road. Community Preservation Committee Chair Jim Coleman said his panel fielded nearly $2.8 million in requests but could fund only 11 of 16 projects, including $598,000 for the Town Hall clock tower and $200,000 for McManus Manor. The committee also recommended a tax increment financing deal for Insulet's planned 35 Nagog Park Drive expansion, approved with two abstentions, and declined to take a position on an article raising affordable-housing requirements in the MBTA Communities overlay district.
"It's always a challenge when you have more requests than what you have money for," Coleman said. Member Fred warned the town needs a multi-year revenue plan as override pressure looms.
