Finance Committee OKs DPW Facility, HVAC Borrowing

Finance Committee · Meeting of March 24, 2026

ACTON — The Acton Finance Committee voted to recommend borrowing for a new DPW facility design and a $2.75 million Town Hall HVAC overhaul among dozens of Town Meeting warrant articles. The committee also backed the $82,830,682 Acton-Boxborough Regional School District assessment and the $42,332,565 municipal operating budget after a brief public hearing on the roughly $130 million fiscal 2027 town budget drew no comment. An Arrow Street Architects study pegged the full DPW project at $29 million; Town Manager John said the phase-one figure under consideration would come in under that but corrected a member's guess that it could fall "south of $20 million." One member said the HVAC project "is only financially feasible because of the $1 million grant" from the state.

Minuteman officials reported Acton's assessment will drop 5.63 percent, to near $3.3 million, as the district's FY27 budget rises 2.99 percent, to $33.5 million.
