Finance Committee · Meeting of February 24, 2026

ACTON — The Acton Finance Committee heard that the Select Board split the new DPW facility project into phases to control costs. A staff member filling in for Select Board liaison Ellie Anderson said the board "believe[s] that it's in the best interest of our fleet to store it indoors" but will "push pause" on vehicle storage to focus first on a new personnel building. Finance Committee member Greg, who sits on the DPW Building Committee, said no new cost estimate exists yet for phase one, raising questions about whether the $900,000 design feasibility warrant article will hold.

Separately, Select Board member David Martin told the panel the town has 120 days to match a $1.4 million purchase offer on 5.8 acres at 46 Taylor Road, next to the Acton Arboretum, calling the price "not negotiable." A school liaison reported out-of-district special education tuition rose 16.09 percent after the state approved higher provider rates.
