Acton's Finance Committee reviewed its fiscal 2026 second-quarter budget and leaned toward a DPW facility design without taking a formal vote. Budget Director Ellie Anderson reported free cash certified at $6,777,343 and general fund spending at $21.7 million, or 53.4 percent of budget. Town Manager John Mandarotti said a draft Town Meeting warrant with 33 articles is headed to the Select Board.
Select Board member David Martin used public comment to defend the "4B" DPW facility design, asking colleagues to "imagine in the past month having to clean the snow off 15 trucks" without a garage. Committee member Lisa reported the AB Regional School District's preliminary fiscal 2027 budget rose 4.75 percent to $122,593,238, with Acton's assessment up 3.75 percent and a $1 million draw from district reserves.
