School Committee · Meeting of May 21, 2026

ACTON — The Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee voted to extend a voluntary class-size balancing plan to all five elementary schools, with member Vikram abstaining. The motion, moved by member Lisa and seconded by Ben, grows authority first granted for Blanchard Elementary, where staff projected "27 students in fourth grade" under new geographic zoning. The committee unanimously approved revisions to its vocational-education policy naming the Minute Man Regional Vocational Technical School District and a revised attendance policy.

SEPAC co-chair Amanda Bailey said draft transportation and enrollment language needed clearer protections for students with IEPs and 504 plans; Boxborough resident Hélène Orvouin warned the policy would strand dual-residence students without bus service. Staff agreed to revise both drafts before the next vote. The board also heard a Generative AI Working Group update limiting district tools to Google's Gemini and one vetted chatbot, Lenny Learning.
